Abstract: 

The aim of this paper is to present a methodology for using a DATA ENVELOPE ANALYSIS method at research organizations with intangible quantitative and qualitative inputs and outputs. This paper covers the way of applying changes and limitations used in the DATA ENVELOPE ANALYSIS model. It also shows the manner of transferring limitations and factors into the mathematical equations and terms. With respect to the attributes of research organizations and the existing different conditions in DATA ANALYSIS method, the use of the above method will not be possible easily to measure the efficiency of research centers. One of the most important existing problems in this respect is to quantify and qualify inputs and outputs at research organizations. Consequently, it is so difficult task to convert quality cases to quantity ones and to create uniform inputs and outputs. This activity in particular has been used at one of the research organizations in ministry of energy practically. Then, the efficiency of different engineering departments has been measured in three consecutive periods with respect to the similarity of activities. It is concluded that the trend of efficiency changes at each department is defined by linear programming models and is quantified by the use of LINGO software. The obtained result has been reported to the top manager as management information for making a decision.

Abstract: 

Background and Objective: One of the most important requirements to provide the objectives of Islamic Republic of Iran’s 2025 vision and to realize consumption pattern modification is enhancing organizational efficiency in all levels. With respect to the complexity of police departments' tasks and their various duties, the way of considering and evaluating the performance by commanders is associated with some problems. This has led to using methods such as visit checklists or visiting departments periodically or unexpectedly. Therefore, departments are appraised, and the achieved scores by every department is compared; however, the issue is criticized due to periodic but not continuous appraisals.Materials and Methods: The research has used mathematical models and ways of ENVELOPE DATA ANALYSIS (DEA) to examine and determine the relative efficiency of the eleven police departments in Kerman city. With respect to various inputs and outputs of police departments and taking into consideration the relative low number of available departments to be examined, some of the inputs and outputs are chosen and utilized based on priority. Experts referred to were selected according to accessed sampling which included 8 active commanders or those who expect to be retired shortly, and 4 experts and shift superintendents working for commandership and control centers for years.Findings: Police departments No.12 and 21 considered the most efficient departments among all. In conclusion, the above-mentioned technique is recommended to be used as a part of Police Information System software, after its completion.

Abstract: 

The aim of this study is to investigate the efficiency of Islamic Azad University Branches in East-Azerbaijan province. The sample includes 28 branches. DATA ENVELOPE ANALYSIS method (DEA) is one of the useful methods for this subject. This method is on the basis of linear programming. DEA requires some information to determine the efficiency or inefficiency of the Decision Making Units (DMU).In this paper, inputs and outputs of DEA are determined through selecting the most important criteria. Inputs include: number of teachers, number of educational groups, university area, and number of students, number of employees, and university expenses. Outputs include: number of graduates, number of articles, books and surveys done at the branch, number of scientific conferences, and number of students accepted at higher education levels. On this basis, the DATA of each branch were collected and the efficiency of them was calculated using the DEAP2 software. According to the results, fourteen branches were identified as efficient and fourteen branches as inefficient. Finally, the most efficient branches were introduced as pattern (model) through comparison; the inefficient branches could come closer to the pattern (model) and reach the efficiency level.

Abstract: 

Introduction: To assess efficiency as a relative concept, the difference between real and expected values must be determined by comparing the productivity of economic units of industry and the efficiency in potential production conditions. As economic units, hospitals need to utilize efficiency ANALYSIS in order to make optimal use of their available resources. Therefore, the present study compared the efficiency of different hospitals of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences.Methods: Since this applied analytical research referred to the documents and performance statistics of hospitals and therfore used real DATA, evaluating the validity and reliability had no relevance. In order to measure the relative efficiency of health care in 16 hospitals associated with Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and also to determine efficient and inefficient hospitals during 2005-2007, CCR (Charnes-Cooper-Rhodes) input oriented multiplier model of DATA Envelopment ANALYSIS (DEA) was used for DATA ANALYSIS. In addition, AP (Anderson-Peterson) model was used to rank efficient hospitals. LINDO software was utilized to solve the model.Results: Based on our results, 43.75%, 31.25% and 37.5% of hospitals were efficient respectively in 2005, 2006 and 2007.Conclusion: The results suggested that the efficiency of inefficient hospitals could be improved through the potential savings in resources (62.44% in infrastructure, 43.88% in the number of active beds, 37.15% in the number of physicians and 38.58% in the number of paramedics).

Abstract: 

Activity-based costing since it's introduction has attracted so much attention. There are, however, practical problems in implementing this costing system, which, in spite of the computational superiority of activity-based costing compared to traditional costing, organizations and companies are still not interested in using this costing method. In the present study, implementation problems that are practically related to implementation of activity-based costing have been investigated and artificial neural networks have been used to solve the problem of estimating the cost-activity relationship (CER) as well as reducing the costs of doing timing in organizations. The statistical population of the research is all branches of Maskan Bank which has been clustered using CI-DEA DATA Envelopment ANALYSIS (CI-DEA) and based on performance similarity in 1395. 450 branches were selected as samples and used to train and test the model of neural networks. The distinctive feature of this pattern is to consider non-linear relationship between cost-activity and other patterns. The proposed architecture of network makes it possible, in addition to the cost-of-activity forecast, to be extrapolated from the model, the amount of cost-driven input (time) used as a cost-sharing actuator to the activity in the conventional executive model. The results of the RMSE and MAE models showed that the proposed model has the capability to estimate the cost-activity relationship.

Abstract: 

باتوجه به اهمیت و نقش داده های کمی در سنجش زبان، چاپ کتابی که بتواند روش های تحلیل داده ها را معرفی کند حیاتی بنظر می رسد. کتاب دوجلدی تحلیل داده های کمی در سنجش زبان (تکنیک های بنیادین و روش های پیشرفته) به منظور پرکردن این خلاء توسط وحید آریادوست ((Vahid Aryadoust و میشل راکویل (Michelle Raquel) گردآوری شده است و انتشارات راتلج (Routledge) آن را منتشر کرده است. جلد اول آن با عنوان تحلیل داده های کمی در سنجش زبان: تکنیک های بنیادین در سال 2019 چاپ شد، و جلد دوم آن تحت عنوان تحلیل داده های کمی در سنجش زبان: روش های پیشرفته در سال 2020 منتشر شد. در این نوشتار، نویسنده ضمن معرفی کتاب، آن را مورد نقد هم قرار می دهد. مطالعه حاضر از نظر هدف انتقادی، به لحاظ رویکرد کیفی، و از حیث تحلیل محتوایی است. کتاب امتیازات بسیار زیادی دارد از جمله کامل بودن فصل ها از نظر ساختاری و محتوایی، انسجام و پیوستگی مطالب، و تنوع روش های تحلیل داد ه های کمی، اگرچه کاستی هایی هم دارد که می توان به عدم شفافیت در انتخاب روش ها اشاره کرد. کتاب حاضر می تواند منشاء تولید پژوهش های سودمند در این حوزه باشد، به گسترش آن کمک شایانی بکند، و منجر به تولید علم در سنجش زبان بشود. لذا مطالعه آن به جامعه آزمون سازی و سنجش زبان موکدا توصیه می شود.

Abstract: 

DATA ENVELOPE ANALYSIS (DEA) is an approach to estimate the relative efficiency of decision making units (DMUs). Several studies were conducted in order to prioritize efficient units and some useful models such as cross-efficiency matrix (CEM) were presented. Besides, a number of DEA models with interval DATA have been developed and ranking DMUs with such DATA was solved. However, presenting an obtained crisp DATA derived interval DATA is a critical problem, so that many researches were implemented so as to compute weights and averaging the interval DATA. In this paper we propose the new algorithm to find more suitable weight applying a DATA mining approach of DMU’s DATA. For this purpose, we employed clustering and pair-wise comparison matrix on given relative efficiency from CEM. Results indicate there is meaningful different between efficiency of DMUs with lower bound and that of DMUs with upper bound.

Abstract: 

Tehran Bus Transit System involves with two types of problems. The first type of problems is the performance-based problems, such as high fuel consumption, fast depreciation of the buses, … etc. Second type problems are spatial problems, such as unsuitable selection of bus routes and stops, the discontent of travel demand, … etc. In this paper, the efficiency of bus routes is evaluated by integrating DATA Envelopment ANALYSIS (DEA) model and Geographic Information System (GIS), from two viewpoints: performance-based and spatial problems. The parameters of number of bus stops, daily fuel consumption as input indexes and the number of passengers, the number of children and the aged people as well as the number of disabled people are selected as output indexes. The spatial DATA are prepared by GIS. Afterwards, the efficiency of decision making units (bus routes) is calculated using the DEA method and the more efficient routes are determined. In this model, the weights of the attributes are not required to be entered by the user, they are determined by DEA model, itself. After running the DEA model, spatial and performance-related efficiencies are calculated. The results show that, among the fourteen routes, five routes have high performance-related efficiency and three routes have high efficiency.

Abstract: 

This paper proposes to use variable time steps in circuit ENVELOPE simulation. The circuit ENVELOPE is a general-purpose simulation technique for the transient and steady state ANALYSIS of microwave communication systems and circuits. When a microwave circuit is excited with a time variant ENVELOPE signal as digital modulated signal, circuit ENVELOPE simulation method may be used. In this paper a new technique is proposed to improve the efficiency of the circuit ENVELOPE simulation. Using this technique, a millimeter wave power amplifier is simulated and its results are presented. The evaluation of the results with the existing literature proves the accuracy and efficiency of the new technique.
